POTATERS GONNA POTATE

I have a serious weakness for fried potatoes.  French fries, potato chips, hash browns....  well, potatoes in general but especially the fried ones.  Its almost insanity that I don't own this crazy Japanese Microwave Potato Chip Maker! So buy me one, damnit!

FIREBIRD

A few months ago a photograph of mine was published in an online magazine called INSIGHT.  The theme of the issue was 'phoenix.'  I took an old self-portrait of myself and lit in on fire and took a picture.  Looking through the photos the other day, I realized I took so many that you can basically watch the painting burn if you flip through them fast enough.  If you wanna see the original photograph you can check it out here.

WORKSPACE

I'm always curious to see other artist's workspaces.  Are they all as messy as mine? Do they all snack while they work as well?  I think its really interesting.  Design Sponge's "What's In Your Toolbox?"  offers some glimpses of interesting spaces and sometimes painter Audrey Kawasaki's blog shows a little of where she works.

My old 'studio' back in Michigan.  Basically it was the living room floor, where I sat in the one clear spot inside a ring of art supplies, diet coke cups and sour patch kids wrappers.  Painting all night and watching Buffy the Vampire Slayer.  I suppose my workspace is better now, what with the desks and chairs and stuff, but I did love sitting on the floor to work.

After I moved to a loft in Bushwick, I got waaaay more space to make into a big mess.  This picture was taken when I was working on a commissioned piece, which was pretty damn big.  It took over basically the entire studio.

This is the same loft space, different arrangement.  The pic on the left is from a rainy day, the one on the right is a desk close up.  Man, I gotta find the SD card for my DSLR camera, these iphone pics just aren't cutting, huh?

What does YOUR workspace look like?

PAPER WARHOL

Image via gallerywarhol.com

I came across a super cute paper Andy Warhol doll here the other day and I just had to print it out and put one together myself.  After putting li'l Paper Andy together I've been inspired to customize the template and make my own little paper dolls!

Here's how my little paper Andy turned out, doesn't he make you wanna go out and buy some striped shirts?  Check back soon for paper toys of my own little characters.

SILLY

So a few months ago W and I decided to have a silly string party [let me tell you, there's STILL silly string stuck to my apartment].  I bought something like 10 cans of silly string and we basically sat in a circle and sprayed each other in the face.  And you know what? Silly string smells f'in WEIRD.  I highly recommend it, the best part was probably attacking people the minute they came through the door.
